Nicklaus Hanlan, DO

Nicklaus Hanlan, DO, graduated from Missouri Western State University with a degree in Biology-Health Sciences. He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Kansas City University.

Growing up in St. Joseph, Missouri, Dr. Hanlan understood the role of healthcare providers – his mom is a nurse, one of his grandmothers is a retired nurse, and his other grandmother worked extensively on the administrative side of medicine. These early influences as well as a passion for science and the human body fueled his desire to become a doctor. He chose to specialize in Family Medicine for many reasons: the breadth of possibilities the field offers, the continuity of care, and the relationships he will be able to establish with his patients.

Dr. Hanlan appreciates Lincoln Family Medicine Residency Program’s robust opportunities as an unopposed program. Coupled with the welcoming environment he felt from the faculty, residents, and staff during his visit and that the program offered the opportunities he sought, he felt Lincoln was the right residency program for him.

Advice he likes to give his patients is to be their most comfortable selves. Dr. Hanlan wants patients to feel at ease when seeing their doctor and to be open and honest about their medical issues. He hopes patients recognize a doctor who embraces the vulnerability of healthcare and guards a patient's perspective during the course of care.

Dr. Hanlan loves spending time with his wife Madisun, and discovering new areas of interest. Sports are a huge part of his life, following Kansas City’s Chiefs and Royals teams. He enjoys being outdoors – fishing, hiking, biking, hunting, and golfing – as well as having extra time to read and catch up on a variety of TV shows. His favorite quote: “Time is something that cannot be bought; it cannot be wagered with God, and it is not in endless supply. Time is simply how you live your life.” - Craig Sager
