Garret Lorenzen, MD
Garret Lorenzen, MD, credits his parents as being an influence in his decision to go into medicine. His father was a paramedic and his mother was an educator/professor in Lincoln. The combination of his parents careers and having had excellent doctors growing up was a perfect blend of education and medical sciences. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Nebraska Wesleyan University and his Medical Degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Medicine where he also obtained his master’s degree in medical anatomy.
After working as a medical scribe at a family medicine clinic he knew that’s what he wanted to specialize in. The continuity of patient care family medicine provides, the time spent with patients and developing long-term relationships over the years, and the variety of diseases and concerns to manage were all important aspects for choosing family medicine.
After doing a rotation at Lincoln Family Medicine Residency Program during his fourth year of medical school, Dr. Lorenzen knew that this program would be a great fit for him and his family. It offered a community program with a close-knit group of residents that would help him be a well-rounded physician.
Dr. Lorenzen grew up in Ceresco, Nebraska. He and his wife, Megan, have one daughter, 18-months-old, as well as pets Jacey, an Australian Shepherd, and Chad, a cat. He loves spending time with his family, and enjoys golfing, traveling, and watching a variety of TV shows or playing a video game occasionally.
