Matthew Belleville, MD
A number of formative experiences growing up helped to guide Matthew Belleville, MD, toward a career in medicine. At the age of 8, he fell off a fence and spent a couple nights in the hospital, which initially spurred his fascination with medicine, along with other mentors over the years. Dr. Belleville graduated from Montana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Cell Biology and Neuroscience. He received his Medical Degree from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha. In addition, he completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the National Capital Consortium in Washington, D.C., and served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.
Dr. Belleville chose Family Medicine for his speciality because it provides a ready opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients of any age or any circumstance. The ability to be flexible with his career is appealing as is the ability to practice in a wide variety of settings.
There were several reasons Dr. Belleville chose to do his residency at Lincoln Family Medicine Residency Program. He was impressed with the sense of community faculty and residents exuded during his interviews, and he is looking forward to tailoring his ultimate interests in Family Medicine with the help of the program. In addition, he and his wife have family in the area so they are excited to become a part of the community of LFMR and of Lincoln.
When it comes to giving his patients advice, he wants them to know that no question is ever a bad question. He feels he will learn as much, if not more, from his patients as they will learn from him.
Dr. Belleville grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado and in Kalispell, Montana. He and his wife have a one-year-old daughter and a Golden Retriever. In his spare time, he enjoys running, biking, hiking, and skiing (he was a ski instructor). He also enjoys reading, attending sports events, cooking, and baking.
