Sabrina Cerny, MD, ABFM, FAAFP

Dr. Sabrina Cerny finds joy in witnessing motivated residents progress through their three years of training and values her role in contributing to the future generation of exemplary physicians. She encourages students to consider a learning environment that allows for direct patient care, and that offers ample experience relevant to their future goals in medicine. “Graduate Medical Education (GME) is a rare bird. I challenge each new group of residents to be self-reflective about their life, both in and outside of medicine,” Dr. Cerny remarks. She appreciates the communicative nature of physicians in Lincoln and the value placed on family medicine.

When she’s not spending time with her husband (a Veterinarian) and their two children and dogs, you can find Dr. Cerny outside, gardening and exercising. She loves reading, “all things French”, and giving back to her community through her participation in the St. Elizabeth Medical Executive Board.

Dr. Cerny grew up in Hannibal, Missouri. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in French and attended the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical School. Upon completing her family medicine residency at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency Program in San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Cerny did a Faculty Development Fellowship at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Dr. Cerny also completed training in medical acupuncture from Helms Medical Institute, UCLA/Berkley. She joined Lincoln Family Medicine Residency faculty in January, 2014.
