Eddie Pierce, MD, ABFM

Dr. Eddie Pierce knew he wanted to work in healthcare. He attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney, NE where he received a degree in Medical Technology. He worked the next five years as a medical tech before pursuing his medical training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha where he received his Medical Degree. It was his experience as a medical tech that inspired Dr. Pierce to become a physician.

Working in a rural community and being able to provide a full-scope of medicine is what excites Dr. Pierce about being a physician. He especially likes providing healthcare to adult and geriatric patients as he feels he can relate to their stages of life. His favorite piece of advice he likes to give his patients is that they should adopt a healthy lifestyle. Prior to joining the faculty at Lincoln Family Medicine Residency, Dr. Pierce spent 20 years providing Family Medicine services, including OB, surgery, and endoscopy, in Alliance and Minden, NE, Greeley, CO and Las Vegas, NV. He also served on the faculty at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Family Medicine Residency Program.

Dr. Pierce grew up in rural Hebron, NE and feels if he hadn’t become a physician he probably would have been a farmer. Family and work are what make him happy. He and his wife, Jane, have four grown children and two granddaughters who live in cities all across the U.S. and in Lincoln. When not working, Dr. Pierce enjoys spending time with his family and friends, reading, and studying history. He chose to return to Nebraska to be near his children and grandchildren, and likes that Lincoln has a lot to do when it comes to activities and experiences. His bucket list includes working for as long as possible and visiting all 50 states in the U.S.
