COVID-19 can remain on surfaces for hours up to a few days in some cases, so it is very important to keep surfaces cleaned and disinfected regularly, especially if you have had someone that was confirmed as having the virus. The CDC suggests doing the following when cleaning various surfaces and electronics:

  • Wear disposable gloves when cleaning or disinfecting surfaces. Routinely clean frequently touched areas such as tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, toilets, faucets, sinks, etc.

  • For carpet and rugs, use soap and water or cleaning products appropriate for the surface.

  • Launder items like draperies, and bedding and linens, according to the manufacturer's instructions or use the warmest appropriate water setting and dry items completely.

  • For electronics, follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning. Consider using a keyboard cover to make it easier to wipe clean daily.
