Recommended Ages for Colorectal Cancer Screening
Early screening for abnormal polyps (growths) in the colon or rectum is the best way to detect colorectal cancer. Regular screenings can find precancerous polyps in their early stages.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now recommends that most people should begin screening for colorectal cancer at age 45, and get regular screenings through age 75. If you have a family history of colorectal cancer or colorectal polyps, or have inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, you may need to be tested earlier than age 45.
